Top Five Food Articles You MUST Read

Last week during our class lecture my marketing teacher gave me inspiration for this weeks post. She told us a story of a boss she once had who, every week, would send his employees 10 articles that everyone should read. She said there was no rhyme or reason for the articles he chose - he simply picked reads that he felt would benefit his employees in a positive way. Therefore, this week I have researched and picked 5 food-relevant articles that I think readers will benefit from reading:

1. Jack Daniel's Embraces a Hidden Ingredient: Help from  Slave

On it's 150th Anniversary, Jack Daniel's publishes this revealing story about the true, uncovered origins of their distillery. After further research, the company came to find that Mr. Daniel's didn't learn distillery from Dan Call, but instead from one of his slaves, Nearis Green. The story exposes the integral role slaves played in making fine spirits throughout history and game them the long-overdue credit they deserve.

2. The American Thanksgiving

This touching multimedia story details how15 families celebrate Thanksgiving. It focuses on the idea that each families unique journey to the U.S, however long or short ago that may be, is in some way reflected in the food they eat. The Times asked each family to show the holiday dishes most special to them, as well as to share their unique heritage and traditions.

3. 3 Steps to Brewing a Better Cup of Coffee

https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2016/02/23/dining/how-to-make-coffee.html

The relevance of this article is what makes it so important - we, as sleep-deprived college students, need our morning cup of coffee just as much as we need food and shelter. The New York times gives us three easy steps to brew a better cup of coffee. Follow their advice and you will be the new Starbucks barista of the house without that lofty pricetag (sign me up).

4. One Twin Gave Up Sugar, the Other Gave Up Fat.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/health/article-2546975/One-twin-gave-sugar-gave-fat-Their-experiment-change-YOUR-life.html

As the title reads, an experiment was conducted in which one brother gave up sugar and the other fat. They hoped that by doing this, they could determine which was worse for your body and therefore relate that back to various dieting regimes. Alexander couldn't have carbs and Chris was allowed only a tiny bit of fat. They were allowed to eat as much as they wanted and exercised the same. This was a very informative article and gives us important health and diet information everyone should be aware of.
